About Rebecca Thomas Ceramics

Rebecca's ceramics have elegant silhouettes that pair straight lines with gentle curves, and simple spheres with delicate footings.

Abstract decoration adds layers of texture that brings a modern perspective to traditional forms.

Inspiration

Rebecca's inspiration comes from classical and contemporary sources including the shape of Ancient Greek amphorae, William Morris wallpaper and digital communication. The wide-ranging combination of design styles results in a highly individual aesthetic.

Vases are hand built from stoneware clay that is shaped around formers pressed into moulds and then carefully joined and refined. Each piece is made over several days so the clay is the perfect firmness for each stage of the process.

Elegant forms

Textural design is created with layers of underglaze. Rebecca makes silk screens with original designs and traditional motifs. She prints onto gel plates and then transfers the images onto the ceramic surface, organically building layers of pattern.
